Vaccinations against Coronavirus
The national vaccination campaign against coronavirus started on Saturday evening, December 19th, 2020. The vaccine that was first used was the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health Ombudsman, in the first stage the vaccine was given to medical staff and people older than 60 years.
The graph below shows the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals. Within 10 days after the start of the campaign nearly one million individuals received the first dose of the vaccine. Data source: The daily reports of the Ministry of Health.
The vaccination of over 50% of the population rapidly decreased the spread of the infections. See the link below for the first medical report summarizing the results of the vaccination program.
