Structure of Local Government
In Israel the local government is organized in four types of units based on the population of the area:
- Cities: An urban area with a population of >20,000.
- Local Councils: An area with a population ranging from 2,000 to 20,000.
- Regional Councils: An area that includes villages and communities each with a population of less than 2,000.
- Industrial local councils: An industrial area without residents.
